RIP @WRISTI

Sadly this post is about the passing of a legend.

@Wristi

Very sad day for the watch community. Wristi’s first post was October 2012 and I have been following him since on my personal Instagram way before I started @Ncaffrey_Watch.

I started posting wrist shots in a similar fashion to my personal Instagram up until the point my friends and family said “ENOUGH with the watches” and seeing Wristi’s Instagram it inspired me to create a separate Instagram account to post, follow and like only watches.

Would I say Wristi is the equivalent of Steve Jobs to the Instagram watch community? I like to think so.

To me, he made it cool and ok to stand in front of a pool party and stick your wrist up to capture the watch and the surrounding area and not worry about how you look.

He made wrist shots cool, he made working with brands cool. He was just an overall cool guy. He had a huge following on Instagram, people who did not even wear watches followed him.

It’s just sad. He was my first actual Instagrammer in the watch community that I followed for a long time. The weird thing about this hobby is that you follow these strangers online, some who never post selfies, you don’t know what they look like, what they do for a living, and none of that matters but you see their stories, and pictures you get to know them through comments and dms, and they become your friends.

Despite his following, he never gave anyone attitude for following in his footsteps. No matter how big he got he always made time to answer dms.

Wristi thank you for creating a community.
