The last time we had blue was back in 2015, a much more navy blue color, these proceeded to be flipped on ebay for almost double the price. Why? well … because they’re blue, and blue is a more common likeable color then purple/Orchid (looking at you 2016 collector’s edition) and more justifiable than the red 2018 collection (because we already have the affordable alox red at half the price of the Limited editions and always available, why pay more for a slightly brighter color of red just because of its exclusivity?)
Prior year limited edition Alox have been slow to see out, 2019 is still available on Victorinox.com and I remember 2018 and 2017 Alox Limited Editions still being available almost an entire year later at a discounted price on ebay and other sites.
On forums and youtube, collectors are voicing their unrest about the high prices and lack of ingenuity for these limited editions. One recent limited edition, the “Super Tinker Winter Magic Special Edition 2019” is still available.
So we have been seeing a trend of Victorinox releasing limited editions and not selling out as fast as they used to.
I still believe this 2020 Alox Limited Edition will sell out.
I usually pick up two of each model, one for daily use, and one as a backup incase I lose the daily use one. However, this time around I will only be picking up one of each model due to Covid-19 and the uncertainty in the economic situation in my country.
